The Olpe Lady Eagles (8–1) continued their strong season with a 47–27 victory over the Burlingame Lady Bearcats (5–3), pulling away in the second half after a competitive opening quarter.
Olpe got off to a steady start, edging Burlingame 10–8 by the end of the first quarter. The Eagles’ defense tightened in the second period, limiting the Bearcats to just one free throw as Olpe built a 21–9 advantage heading into halftime.
Momentum stayed firmly with the Eagles coming out of the break. Olpe used balanced scoring and aggressive defense to outscore Burlingame 17–7 in the third quarter, extending the lead to 38–16. With control of the game established, Olpe maintained its composure in the final quarter and closed out the 47–27 win.
Lilly Skalksy led the Eagles with 13 points, while Harper Schmidt provided a big spark off the bench, scoring 12 points. Olpe’s depth and defensive pressure proved to be the difference as the Eagles improved to 8–1 on the season.
In the boys half of the action, The Olpe Eagles continued their strong season with a bounceback 72–24 victory over the Burlingame Bearcats.
Olpe set the tone early, taking a 17–11 lead after the first quarter before turning up the defensive pressure in the second. The Eagles outscored Burlingame 19–5, which included a 13-0 run in the period to build a 36–16 halftime advantage.
The momentum carried into the third quarter as Olpe put together another dominant stretch, extending the lead to 55–21 by the end of the period. With the outcome well in hand, the Eagles maintained control in the fourth quarter to secure the decisive win.
Olpe’s Head Coach Chris Schmidt was pleased with his team’s intensity in the victory.
Brecken McGuire led Olpe with 20 points, while Brayden Lienemann added 12. The Eagles showed impressive balance offensively, with 10 different players contributing to the scoring column.
For Burlingame, Drake Skirvin led all Bearcats with 16 points.
With the win, Olpe improves to 8–1 on the season, while Burlingame drops to 2–6
