The Kansas City Chiefs may not be vying for a Super Bowl ring this year, but 17 local residents still have a vested interest in the outcome of the NFL playoffs, thanks yet again to Country 101.7 FM and Triad Leasing.
Saturday morning, KVOE and Triad staff welcomed the winners of the annual Watch the Chiefs promotion to the Triad storefront at 1123 Commercial Street, where they selected the teams they would follow through the playoffs, with hopes of taking home a new 55-inch 4K LED smart TV courtesy of Triad. Jason Crumb of Triad says they look forward to being involved in the promotion each year, saying their excitement is matched only by the participants.
Crumb also says the business’s generosity in providing the grand prize for the event is just an extension of their everyday mission.
14 of the 17 contestants were awarded a playoff team based on their blind picks, with three others being entered in a second-chance drawing where they were assigned one of the 14 playoff teams. Should one of the three second-chance drawing teams win the Super Bowl, Triad will provide both participants with a new television.
Throughout the NFL regular season, listeners to Country 101.7 FM had a chance to name two mystery players during each game. Successful participants then qualified for the chance to win the television and also received a free one-topping pizza from Gambino’s.
The list of contestants and their selected teams is as follows:
Stephen Coleman – Buffalo Bills (Second Chance Drawing)
Shannon Schumman – Los Angeles Rams
Nikki Thompson – Philadelphia Eagles
Nancy Garcia – Chicago Bears
Diane O’Mara – Jacksonville Jaguars
John Morrison – Jacksonville Jaguars (Second Chance Drawing)
