Jury trial is now on the Lyon County docket in an Emporia murder case.
Alexei Perez-Ricardo faces a possible four-day jury trial beginning Feb. 23. This is a prime jury trial setting, meaning no secondary options have been scheduled. The trial dates can still be moved if needed.
Following a motion hearing earlier this month, another motion from prosecutors has been submitted to endorse additional witnesses in the case. This follows other motions filed earlier in the case, including prosecution motions to add witness and defense motions to receive all discovery evidence from prosecutors as well as “in limine” motions to end any reference of Perez-Ricardo as the defendant in the case.
Perez-Ricardo is accused of killing 57-year-old Adolfo Viniegra, initially listed as 62-year-old Raul Reyes, in late May 2025 following an alleged disturbance. He is officially charged with second-degree murder and aggravated battery in Viniegra’s murder. Perez-Ricardo is also charged with aggravated robbery after an alleged incident involving Joseph Alfred Rodriguez.
