Visit Emporia is opening the annual application window for its tourism support grants.
Director Matt Fowler says it’s a way to help with current or new events.
With transient guest tax or bed tax dollars being used to support these grants, Fowler says the goal is fund events that will foster more hotel stays locally.
Meanwhile, Visit Emporia is encouraging event organizers to get their information on the Visit Emporia calendar.
Grants are due Feb. 15, with decisions by March 1. Basic contact information is needed, along with projected revenues and expenses, a brief description of how funds will be used and a forecast of out-of-town attendance and expected numbers of lodging rooms. Residents can apply online at visitemporia.com for the grants. Residents can also submit events at visitemporia.com and see those events populate the city’s website, emporiaks.gov. Regardless, residents with questions can also call Visit Emporia at 620-342-1600.
