While Trisha Fullerton is still in the driver’s seat of the Emporia Farmers Market, the search for a new manager is still ongoing at this time.
That was according to an update from Fullerton on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Friday morning. If you may recall, Fullerton had previously announced her intentions to step down as Market Manager last year; however, she has remained on as the market has had some individuals step in to assume the role, but has yet to find the “right fit.”
Fullerton says that as they continue to search, it is important for interested individuals to know the position is a paying part-time role that requires roughly 20 hours a week. With that in mind, she says, while they will not turn down anyone currently working a full-time job, the position may be better suited to those working part-time or retirees.
Those interested in the manager position can contact the Emporia Farmers Market by emailing EmporiaFM@Gmail.com, messaging the market on Facebook, or calling 620-343-6555.
Fullerton’s update came with the winter market season in full swing at Water’s Hardware every first and second Saturday of the month from 10 am to noon. She tells KVOE News the markets have hit a bit of a seasonal slowdown at the start of the year, which is typical for this time of year.
She added that this time of year, vendors, especially those specializing in produce, use the indoor markets as an opportunity to discuss what they are planning for the warmer months, calling it a great opportunity for marketing.
The indoor winter market season will continue through April, with the traditional outdoor market season set to begin May 2nd. For more information on the Farmers Market, find them on social media.
