The round of championship semifinals for the Lyon County League Tournament took place Friday at White Auditorium in Emporia.
In the first boys semifinal, the Hartford Jaguars defeated the Burlingame Bearcats 64–49. Hartford led 11–7 at the end of the first quarter and stretched the advantage to 26–13 by halftime. The Jaguars continued to pull away in the second half, taking a 43–26 lead after three quarters and closing out the win by 15.
Coy Wilkinson delivered a historic performance for Hartford, scoring 42 points. Wilkinson finished just one point shy of the all-time single-game scoring record in tournament history and eclipsed 1,000 career points. The victory sends Hartford to its first championship final since 2017, which is also the last time the Jaguars won the Lyon County Tournament.
The second boys semifinal saw the Lebo Wolves knock off the Olpe Eagles 66–61. Olpe held a 16–11 lead after the first quarter, but Lebo rallied to take a 31–29 advantage into halftime. The Wolves extended the lead to 48–40 by the end of the third quarter.
Olpe mounted a late comeback, erasing a 10-point deficit and cutting the lead to one in the fourth quarter, but Lebo sealed the win at the free-throw line. The Wolves went 18 of 25 from the stripe, while Olpe finished 7 of 14. Lebo was led by Gerek Reber with 21 points, while Olpe’s Brecken McGuire led all scorers with 27, including 25 in the second half. Lebo advances to its first championship final since 2024 and will be seeking its first tournament title since 2021.
In the first girls semifinal, the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans defeated the Lebo Wolves 43–28. MDCV led 10–9 after the first quarter before Lebo took a 20–15 lead into halftime. The Trojans regained control in the third quarter, leading 28–23, and pulled away in the fourth for the 15-point win.
Gracen Stahl led all scorers with 14 points for MDCV. The Trojans advance to their first tournament championship game since 2014, which is also the last time they captured the Lyon County Tournament title.
The final girls semifinal featured the Olpe Eagles and the Burlingame Bearcats, with Olpe earning a 49–36 victory. The Eagles jumped out to a 16–7 lead after the first quarter and held a 20–14 advantage at halftime. Olpe continued to build the lead in the second half, going up 38–24 after three quarters and cruising to the win.
With the victory, Olpe advances to its fourth straight Lyon County Tournament championship final and will be looking for its first tournament title since 2021.
