The Emporia State track team returned to action at the Washburn Open on Friday and Saturday in the team’s first action after the Christmas break. Connor Deters led the way finishing second in the shot put with a toss of 55 feet-8 1/2 inches. Madison Vermetten was fourth in the women’s weight throw while Mia Manley was fourth in the women’s pole vault. The Hornets continue the indoor season at the Bearcat Invite in Maryville, Mo. beginning on Friday.
