The Emporia State softball team collected their second-straight run-rule victory with a 10-1 win over Colorado-Mines at the Lone Star Classic in Mansfield, Texas on Saturday. ESU wasted no time jumping all over the Orediggers with six runs in the top of the first inning. Mines committed three errors in the game while the Lady Hornets outhit the ‘Diggers 9-5. ESU has homered in every game of the season thus far with sophomore Brynley Smith and junior Karli Wehunt each leaving the yard Saturday for E-State. Smith, Taryn Burkhardt, and Brooke Flewelling each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Maci Hayes (1-0) pitched 3.2 innings in the circle to pick up the win. ESU (3-0) wraps up their season-opening event Sunday with games against Eastern New Mexico and Southern Arkansas beginning at 9:00 a.m.
