Three people were hospitalized after a crash in Coffey County on Sunday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened on US Highway 75 just south of 21st Road, or about three miles north of New Strawn, at around 11:30 am. Troopers say 75-year-old Steven Quick of Topeka was southbound and was in the process of passing a tractor driven by 43-year-old Cody Herman of Kountze, Texas. Quick didn’t have enough time to finish passing the tractor and his SUV veered into a nearby ditch before colliding with a northbound car driven by 31-year-old Brittany Charboneau of Lebo. Charboneau’s car then hit Herman’s tractor.
Quick and a passenger, 74-year-old Audrey Quick of Topeka, were both taken to Coffey County Hospital in Burlington with suspected minor injuries. Charboneau, meanwhile, was taken to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka with suspected minor injuries. Herman was not hurt.
