The Emporia State women’s tennis team opened the spring portion of their schedule with a 6-1 win over Bethel College at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex on Friday. ESU swept all three doubles matches for the doubles point before taking 5 of 6 singles matches to take the win. Yulia Klimova won 6-1, 6-1 at #1 singles to start the match with Sheridan Wichman, already a winner at #1 doubles, took a straight-sets victory at #3 singles to extend the Lady Hornet lead. Carla Paul Piquer dropped just one game at #4 singles to clinch the duel. ESU (1-0) plays an exhibition against Seward County CC Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
