The Emporia state baseball team fell short for the first time in 2026 wrapping up the Edmond First Pitch Tournament with a 12-7 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Hornets tied the game at two in the second on doubles by Sammy Padilla and Logan Myers. ESU took the lead in the third on a double by Dylan Brisbois and a sacrifice fly. After the Savage Storm scored a pair to take the lead in the fifth, the Hornets got an RBI single by Brisbois in the fifth and a two RBI double from Padilla to put the Hornets up 7-6. Southeastern broke the game open with a six-run sixth while the Hornets didn’t cross the plate again. Nick Woodcock (0-1) gave up six runs but just two were earned in 1.2 innings to take the loss. ESU (6-1) stays in tournament mode next weekend heading to the Washburn Tournament for a three-game stint beginning Friday.
