Chase County picked up a clean sweep over Marais des Cygnes Valley in the area game of the week Tuesday night.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Bulldogs would build an early lead that they never relinquished, holding the Lady Trojans to just four points in the first quarter. MDCV would outscore Chase County 16-12 in the second to trail by 4 at the half, 20-24, the closest they would come to tying the game.
In the second half, Chase County held MDCV to just 16 points on their way to a 50-36 victory. Head Coach Clayton Happy says their defense made the difference in the game.
Chase County was led in scoring by Senior Madelyn Wilson with 18 points. Junior Natalie Neff also ended the night in double figures with 12 points and was 4 for 4 from 3-point range.
MDCV seniors Colbie Cormode and Akyra Traver led the Lady Trojans with 10 points each in the contest.
In the boys’ contest, Chase County dominated from the outset to defeat the Trojans 68-24.
Chase County held the Trojans to single digits in every quarter, outscoring MDCV 20-5, 20-6, 18-4 and 10-9 to pick up the victory. Head Coach Cade Witte says his team had a balanced approach to the contest.
Junior Maddex Beyer led all scorers with 22 points on the night. Senior Guthrie Danford also ended the night in double digits with 14.
MDCV freshman Landon Bloomfield led the Trojans in scoring with 7 points.
