Another intersection closure is coming soon for Emporia’s Southeast Transmission waterline replacement project.
First Avenue will close at Mechanic next week for construction and will likely be closed up to three weeks, or into early March. The construction process will also involve new concrete once the pipe is laid.
First is already closed at Constitution and Merchant, likely through the end of this month, for similar work.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says progress could be at a 2-block pace per week as crews work towards East.
