Winter is still officially here, but severe weather season is lurking.
The National Weather Service has already announced spotter training sessions for area counties. It has now officially announced March 2-6 as Severe Weather Awareness Week across the state.
As has been the case for years, the week will have different information points every day:
*March 2: Preparedness
*March 3: Flood safety
*March 4: Tornado safety
*March 5: Hail and wind safety
*March 6: Lightning safety
The Weather Service Topeka’s information page, weather.gov/top/swaw, also has public service announcements and a link to a weather spotter’s field guide.
Whenever severe weather is in the forecast or underway, KVOE and KVOE.com will have developing information on-air and online. Again this year, KVOE will also have on-site reports from our volunteer Storm Team spotter network.
