Emporia Main Street is in auction mode for this weekend.
The annual Public Improvement Auction takes place Saturday evening. Main Street Director Casey Woods says it is always a good time for a variety of reasons.
Proceeds have helped several community projects, most notably a downtown speaker and PA system, in years past. The fundraising focus has changed recently, shifting to direct support for local businesses.
Doors open at 5 pm at the Emporia State University Memorial Union Webb Hall. Dinner is served at 6 pm, with the dessert and live auctions beginning at 7 pm and Dueling Pianos performing shortly before 8 pm.
A silent auction is also underway online. Residents need to go to 32auctions.com/emporimainstreet26 and register to participate.
Tickets are available for the main event at $55 a person, $300 for a table for six guests or $400 for a table for eight guests. More information is available at emporiamainstreet.com.
