Emporia High School Theatre Director Amanda Ballard has said before that the best way to help support the department is to fill their seats, and the community has their latest chance to do so starting Friday.
EHS Theatre will present its latest production, “The Play That Goes Wrong,” inside the EHS auditorium Friday and Saturday. The comedy, created by the Mischief Theatre Company, is a play within a play following an amateur drama society’s attempt to put on a 1920s murder mystery with disastrous, yet hilarious, results.
The show will run at 7 pm both Friday and Saturday night, with tickets costing $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
The production comes with EHS Theatre in fundraising mode to support its trip to Bloomington, Indiana, later this summer, where the department will present its production of “A Piece of My Heart” at the International Thespian Festival. During an appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show Thursday, Ballard stated the department is currently developing several other fundraising opportunities for the community in the coming months.
Ballard also says they have a unique fundraiser planned for this weekend’s shows.
The department will be making the trip to ITF in June, and this will be the first time in school history that the department has had a production featured on the main stage. Residents interested in supporting the department can also donate directly to the cause through the department’s new ticketing platform, EmporiaHighSchoolTheatre.Ludus.com.
