Following a weekend off, Emporia State softball returned to action in Silver Lake, Kan. at the Washburn Tournament beating Minnesota State-Mankato 4-1 on Friday. Brooke Flewelling continued her power surge with her fifth home run of the season to put the Lady Hornets up 2-0 early. Elina Bartlett and provided the other RBI for the Black & Gold while freshman pitcher Hannah Butterbaugh (4-0) picked up her first career seven-inning complete game allowing just one run and three hits. ESU (7-4) faces two more members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Saturday meeting Minnesota-Crookston at 10:00 a.m. and former CSIC rival Wayne State College at 2:00 p.m.
