Emporia boys wrestling finished 11th at the 5A West Regional Saturday in Hays. Seven Spartans punched their ticket to the State Tournament.
EHS was led by Jose Vargas, who claimed second at 285. Bryan Cubias (132) claimed bronze. Garrett LeBlanc (165) and Kolton Wyatt each secured fourth place. Holden Timmons (138) finished fifth. Takeo Medrano (106) and Jackson Goodman (144) each took eighth and received the final qualifying spot in their weight class.
The seven qualifiers will join the 11 Lady Spartans at the State Tournament in Park City on Friday. AM 1400 and 96.9 FM will bring you every Emporia match from the tournament.
