Lyon County deputies say a semi crashed near Hartford on Friday, causing an extended detour affecting traffic in southeast Lyon and southwest Coffey counties.
Deputy Riley Jones says deputies joined Hartford-Neosho Rapids Fire/EMS after the reported injury wreck in the 800 block of Road Y-5 around 8:35 am. Jones says a semi hauling grain was northbound when the truck veered off the east or right shoulder. The driver, 19-year-old Isaiah Moss of Yates Center, overcorrected. The semi then skidded and overturned onto its passenger side, blocking both lanes of traffic.
Moss was observed on site and declined further medical treatment.
Road crews have been working to clear the road since arriving on scene. There is currently no word on when Road Y5 will reopen. Traffic has been detoured a mile east or west of the road closure zone.
