On Monday, the Emporia and Area Athletes of the Week were announced.
Council Grove’s Tyler Hutchinson won the Area Athlete of the Week. The senior took gold at 215 in Hays at the 321A State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. He dominated his first three matches winning by fall and then the championship by major decision.
The Emporia Athlete of the Week is Kolton Wyatt. Wyatt secured fourth and scored 17.5 points to lead the Spartans at the State Tournament.
