Emporia boys basketball knocked off Great Bend 61-41 in the Maize South Sub-State Semifinal in Emporia on Tuesday.
The Spartans started red hot scoring the first 11 points of the game and built a 16-9 advantage after one. The Black and Red used a 14-0 in the second to double up Great Bend at half, 34-17. A 9-2 run by the Panthers cut their deficit to 45-33 after three.
Rylan Crowell and Harry Trelc each had 18 points.
Evan Burns said his team isn’t ready to go home.
Emporia improves to 17-7 and will travel to Maize South on Friday.
