The Emporia State baseball team scored multiple runs in every inning on the way to a 14-2 win over #3 Pittsburg State to open a three-game series on Friday at the Trusler Sports Complex. The Gorillas got on the board first in their first at bats of the game, but ESU scored two in the bottom of the first and never trailed again. Four Hornets had multiple hits led by Logan Myers and Dylan Brisbois who each went 4-for-4. Noah Steele went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs and said the team’s approach is the same no matter who they are playing.
Frankie Santiago also homered twice in the game. Seth Stover (3-0) lasted 6.0 innings and allowed just five hits to pick up the win. Head coach John Martin called him the game MVP.
Stover said the outing should boost his confidence moving forward.
It was the first Top 5 win for the Hornets since beating Central Missouri in 2024. ESU (14-3, 5-2 MIAA) goes for the series win on Saturday with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
