Skeletal remains have been found in Morris County.
According to a news release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation Friday, the remains were found in rural Morris County Thursday. At approximately 6:30 pm, the remains were located in a field near K-4 and South 2800 Road.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office contacted the KBI shortly after with its Crime Scene Response Team and agents responding and beginning a death investigation. KBI says they and the Sheriff’s Office are “aware of recent missing persons cases in the area,” however, the identity of the deceased individual is unconfirmed at this time.
An autopsy has been scheduled, but due to the condition of the remains, KBI says identification may take longer than in typical cases. If you have any information that can assist authorities in the investigation, please contact the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME.
