Court proceedings have started for a man accused in Lyon County District Court of drug and weapons offenses.
Daniel Luis Tabares-Herrera is charged with single counts of distributing up to 450 grams of marijuana within 1,000 feet of Walnut Elementary, as well as possessing paraphernalia. In addition, Herrera is charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a weapon after a 2022 case of attempted marijuana distribution. Herrera is also charged with one count of driving under the influence.
Herrera was arrested Tuesday, partly on suspicion of drug distribution but partly on suspicion of having an unspecified firearm. Documents posted on Kansas Case Search do not indicate the type of weapon Herrera is accused of having.
Herrera’s first court appearance is March 19.
