Early indications are the National Teachers Hall of Fame fundraiser to expand the National Memorial to Fallen Educators is off to a good start.
The 12 for 12 campaign launched last week. Hall of Fame Director Maddie Fennell says over $2,000 has come in since the announcement.
The reason for the fundraiser is to purchase a new black granite book, matching the three currently at the memorial, and to begin inscribing more names of teachers, administrators and support staffers killed in the line of duty throughout our nation’s history.
Goal is $25,000. Fennell says the campaign will lead to at least one more name to be inscribed later.
Residents can donate any amount. The three main donation requests are a straight $12 donation, a $12 monthly donation for a year or a flat $144 donation. The list of teachers honored through the 12 for 12 campaign is online with our story at kvoe.com.
Meanwhile, the Hall of Fame is getting ready to announce its Class of 2026 inductees after in-school announcements coming soon, a return to the original announcement format after last year’s class was revealed on CBS Mornings. Inductions will be in mid-June. It’s also getting ready for its first Hall of Fame Education Summit June 29-July 1 at Walt Disney World. Registration is still available.
