Osage City erupted in the second half to dispatch Girard 70-51 at the 3A quarterfinal Wednesday at White Auditorium in Emporia.
The Lady Indians built a 15-5 lead after one. The advantage grew to as many as 13 in the second quarter before the Trojans stormed back to cut it to 22-19. Osage City took a 25-19 halftime lead. The Lady Indians continued to push the advantage to 43-31.
OC scored 45 points in the second half and the message at intermission was a simple one from Kate Boss.
Jayla Jenkins had a team high 20 points. The reigning Area Athlete of the Week, Kaelyn Boss, finished with a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jewelia Kitselman added 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Coach Boss has seen Kitselman find another level recently.
The Lady Indians advance to the semifinal Friday against Halstead at 1:30 p.m. at Hutchinson Sports Arena.
