Part of Emporia’s South Avenue will see a better-than-month-long closure as part of the ongoing Southeast Transmission waterline project.
South closes to westbound traffic Monday from East to Peyton and remains closed for up to five weeks. Part of the closure involves waterline construction, with another part including “pavement restoration.” East, meanwhile, is fully closed from South to First, likely for the rest of this month.
Meanwhile, crews will complete some water shutdowns this week. Wednesday morning will see work end at First and Union as well as East between First and Second. Thursday evening will see work end at First and Cottonwood.
First Avenue remains closed between Commercial and Cottonwood as work continues pushing slowly to the east, eventually ending this fall near South and Carter. First has reopened at Mechanic, while First from Commercial to Mechanic has been upgraded from a complete closure to a partial one.
