Grant assistance is available to eligible nonprofits and other services benefiting homeless residents.
The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation has announced an application window for its Emergency Solutions Grant program designed to help enhance access to stable housing. Emergency Solutions funding helps to develop or continue a number of services:
*Homelessness prevention
*Essential services for people in shelters
*Homeless shelter operational expenses
*New shelters and money to improve existing shelters
*So-called “street outreach”
*Assistance for “rapid re-housing”
Agencies must be part of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Coordinated Entry System to be considered eligible for the grant.
The city of Emporia is the pass-through entity for local applicants. Paperwork must be submitted to the city by April 20.
