Emporia residents can now go online to license their pets.
The Emporia Police Department says licenses are now available at emporiaks.gov/animalcontrol. The form includes basic contact information, as well as information about the animal being licensed, veterinarian information and space for the pet owner to upload copies of rabies vaccination records.
Licenses are mandatory for dogs and cats. They expire Dec. 31 and have to be renewed every year.
City ordinance also limits the numbers of dogs and cats on a given property. Residents have a three-dog or three-cat limit. There can also be no more than five total dogs and cats combined. One exception is puppy or kitten litters; they may be kept for up to six months from date of birth.
