Building on a successful first season at the helm, Emporia High boys basketball coach Evan Burns is turning his attention to the future of the program.
Burns, who guided the Spartans to a 17-8 record this past season, is launching a youth skill development program aimed at third through eighth-grade students. The initiative is designed to strengthen fundamentals and foster growth across all levels of Emporia basketball.
The sessions are scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 24, and will run through the first week of May. Burns will work with girls on Mondays and Wednesdays, while boys’ sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sessions will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Spartan Gym at the high school.
The program reflects Burns’ commitment to building a strong foundation for the Spartans by investing in younger players and creating continuity within the community’s basketball system.
Each workout is $20 and payment can be arranged the night of the session.
