Construction is coming to Emporia’s Transfer Station.
Work is planned between Monday and April 5, and the city says this will have an effect on how materials are unloaded. The tipping floor will be closed for repairs, so there will be temporary disposal areas so the public and city trucks can still use the Transfer Station during construction. The city says:
*Roll-off containers will be placed across from the gatehouse for residents bringing small loads.
*Large loads and commercial trucks will be directed to unload at the Santa Fe lot east of the Recycling Center.
*All vehicles will continue to enter through the gatehouse entrance and exit through the scale to weigh out and pay as normal.
*City staff will be on site directing traffic to assist residents and ensure the process runs smoothly.
The new tipping floor surface needs several days to cure, so the temporary traffic flow may not end until April 9.
