A report of a possible anhydrous ammonia leak brought two fire departments to Hartford on Saturday evening.
The incident was reported at the Hartford Co-op, 400 Commercial, at 8:30 pm. Emporia Fire Capt. Ben Lienemann tells KVOE News a customer had returned several ammonia tanks, and there was a smell of ammonia after their return. A brief investigation found one tank had an open valve, although barely — and the valve was closed to end the incident.
Hartford-Neosho Rapids responded along with Emporia Fire.
