The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved a pair of bids for construction projects affecting area counties.
The US Highway 50 curve just east of Strong City will have a milling and overlay project covering just under a mile. Bettis Asphalt & Construction is the lead contractor for the nearly $345,000 project.
Meanwhile, Kansas Highway 31 has a sealing project from Waverly to Garnett, or over 25 miles of highway. The Coffey County portion of the project was bid at just under $220,000. The total cost is just under $1 million. APAC Shears is handling the contract.
