The David Traylor Zoo announced the passing of a pair of animals Monday.
According to a news release from the zoo, Twix, a Netherland Dwarf rabbit, passed away this past week. The cause, following an evaluation, was determined to be an aneurysm. Twix was a Zoo Education Ambassador who was heavily involved in children’s programming, including springtime bunny hops and making appearances at local schools, libraries, nursing homes and daycares.
The zoo is also mourning the loss of Lucky, one of the zoo’s llamas, who arrived at the zoo at 10 months old alongside her companion Hershey. An examination by the zoo’s veterinarian determined that Lucky had passed as a result of cancer.
Twix and Lucky are the second and third passings at the zoo over the past month, following the death of Bill, one of the zoo’s Bison, who passed due to natural causes at the age of 22 on March 7th.
