Emporia soccer fell in their first matchup at the Titan Classic in Wichita on Monday to Derby, 4-3 in a shootout.
Eighty minutes wasn’t enough to decide a winner as neither team found the back of the net in regulation.
The Black and Red started strong in penalty kicks as Emersyn Johnson, Madison Evans, and Rylie Mitchell each bested the keeper and Emporia held a 3-2 advantage after three tries. Ariella Macias and Peyton Chanley both missed their opportunities and the Panthers answered with back to back makes.
The Lady Spartans take the PK loss and drops to 2-1. EHS continues at the Titan Classic Wednesday against Life Prep at 6 p.m.
