It’s no April Fools, Greg Jordan’s time as Director of the Lyon County History Center is now at an end.
Jordan’s official final day at the helm of the center was Wednesday, marking the end of a 30-year career with the center, the last three of which have been spent in the director’s role. Looking back on his career, Jordan says he is very proud of various accomplishments, including leading the effort to move the center to its current home at 711 Commercial Street a decade ago.
In addition to this and the relationships the capital campaign for the current facility helped to forge, Jordan says he is very proud of his longevity with the center, saying you don’t always see that in this line of work.
Taking over for Jordan as director will be his longtime Deputy Director and wife, Lisa Soller, who commended his leadership, saying he has set the center up for great success moving forward.
As for the transition into her new role, Soller, who has been with the center since 2014, says her pre-existing “institutional knowledge” of the center and its operations will be instrumental moving forward.
Though he is no longer director of the history center, Jordan still plans to be plenty involved with operations moving forward as he transitions to the role of Director Emeritus. He will remain on as a full-time employee at the center through the end of May and will continue to be active with the center beyond that time, saying, “You will still see me plenty.”
