Two Emporia animal welfare groups are joining forces to expand services for pets and community cats across the area.
Bailey Estes with Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and Victoria Partridge of Street Cats Club appeared on the KVOE Morning Show Thursday to highlight a new partnership centered around a Trap, Neuter and Return clinic, commonly known as TNR.
Partridge says the collaboration will allow the newly introduced Prairie Paws mobile trailer to support Street Cats Club’s ongoing efforts to humanely manage the local feral cat population. The trailer will serve as a key resource in providing spay and neuter services as part of the TNR program.
Estes says the goal behind the trailer has always been to build partnerships within the community rather than replace existing efforts. She adds Prairie Paws hopes to expand education and provide additional support to organizations already doing the work.
The clinic is now accepting appointments every Thursday and Friday. Those interested in signing up can visit prairiepaws.org for more information.
The cost is $135 for dogs and $85 for cats.
