Two Lyon County fire departments had an early start Tuesday morning.
Around 6:20 am, Hartford-Neosho Rapids and Lyon County District 4, Emporia’s rural fire unit, were toned out to the intersection of Kansas Highway 130 and Road Y for a fire in a tree line. The fire had apparently rekindled from prior activity but was limited to one tree and was already contained by the time Hartford-Neosho Rapids arrived on scene. District 4’s response was canceled before fire crews reached the scene.
The fire danger is officially low to moderate Tuesday despite east-southeasterly wind gusts as high as 25 mph.
