Emporia High softball swept by Washburn Rural in doubleheader at Peter Pan Park on Tuesday.
In game one, the defense let down the Lady Spartans in a 17-3 loss. Emporia committed seven errors.
Washburn struck early with a three run first and broke it open with a ten run second. Emporia got one in the second and two in the fifth off of six hits in the game. Yzabel Ultreras had the lone RBI with a single. Alivia Barrett added a double and run scored.
Delaney Davis suffered the loss in the five inning complete game.
The defense continued to struggle in game two as EHS fell 13-2 after ten errors.
Washburn led 4-0 going into the bottom of the third. A couple of errors allowed Atlyn Heffron and Ultreras to score in the third. A seven run sixth put the game out of reach.
Barrett took the complete game loss surrendering 13 runs, two were earned.
The Lady Spartans move to 5-5 (0-4). Centennial League play continues Friday with Junction City in town.
