The Emporia State track & field team spent two days down the road in El Dorado at the Butler Grizzly Gold Invitational. Aaron Quillen won the men’s pole vault on Friday while Jonathan Wille finished third. Mia Manley was the runner up in the women’s vault while Mason Bina placed third in the women’s 1500m. On Saturday, Connor Deters tossed the shot put 59 ft.-1 3/4 in. to win the event and post a top-four mark in ESU history. Zach Sulzen-Watson also grabbed a podium spot finishing second in the hammer throw. Emporia State hosts the ESU Relays beginning on Friday. The high school portion of the event begins at 10:30 a.m. with collegiate events to follow.
