Lyndon’s post office was damaged by fire Monday evening, and it appears lightning from strong storms was the cause.
Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells says the fire was reported just before 7 pm and confirmed by a deputy at 7 pm. While passersby were using fire extinguishers to help the effort, firefighters arrived from Lyndon, Melvern and Osage City to finish the work in about 10 minutes.
The fire was limited to the front ceiling area, and Wells says there was apparently minimal structural damage. Smoke damage is likely throughout the building. Also receiving smoke damage was Corps Chiropractic nearby.
No injuries were reported. An investigation continues.
