After more than a decade leading the Hartford girls basketball program, Ryan Thomas is set for a new chapter—without going very far.
Thomas has accepted the head coaching position at Lebo, keeping him in the Lyon County League while stepping into a program coming off a strong season. He replaces Patrick Gardner, who stepped down after seven successful years guiding the Lady Wolves.
For Thomas, the move marks both a fresh start and a continuation of familiar rivalries and relationships built over years in the league.
His departure comes after a difficult final stretch at Hartford. The Lady Jaguars were down to just five players late in the season and were forced to forfeit all of their games in February and March, an unfortunate end for a program Thomas had spent years building.
Now at Lebo, Thomas inherits a team in a much different position. The Lady Wolves put together an impressive regular season before an early playoff exit, and expectations will be high heading into next year.
Lebo returns a strong core, including All-League standouts Ellie Grimmett and Maya Wilson, giving Thomas experienced talent to work with right away.
With a proven track record and a roster ready to compete, Thomas’ transition to Lebo sets up an intriguing storyline in the Lyon County League for the upcoming season.
