Formal charges are pending after an alleged pursuit developed east of Emporia on Tuesday.
The Coffey County Sheriff’s Office says deputies started a routine traffic stop, but a pursuit developed instead. Eventually, the suspect’s vehicle left a road and went into a muddy field at an unspecified location near 22nd Road. The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Jimmy Joe Hill of Burlington, was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude, as well as distributing an unlisted controlled substance, interference with law enforcement, speeding, criminal damage, driving without a valid license or insurance and other violations.
Burlington Police, Osage County deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers assisted on the call.
