National Work Zone Awareness week is underway, and the Kansas Department of Transportation is urging drivers to do their part as they go through construction zones this year.
KDOT engineer Dustin Hardin says it’s a needed reminder.
Already, KDOT is well into several road and bridge updates for Lyon and surrounding counties.
Hardin says road workers do their best to make work zones as obvious as possible.
Hardin says some simple steps will make work zones safer.
KDOT is getting ready for Go Orange Day on Wednesday, where people are encouraged to wear orange as a safety reminder. Hardin also reminds drivers to check road conditions and construction zones online through kandrive.gov or by calling 511.
