The Area and Emporia Athletes of the Week were announced Monday morning.
Chance Duncan is the Emporia Athlete of the Week after a record-breaking performance last Thursday in Manhattan. The junior set a new Emporia High discus record with a throw of 176’10”, while also winning gold in discus and javelin and earning silver in shot put.
Jaitlyn Johnson of Northern Heights is the Area Athlete of the Week. The senior swept all throwing events at Osage City and helped the Wildcats win gold in the 4×100 relay.
