Emporia residents interested in learning more about how their city operates have until Friday to sign up for the upcoming Civic Leadership Institute.
The program, hosted by the City of Emporia, will run weekly on Tuesdays beginning May 5 and continuing through July 21, when participants will take part in a graduation ceremony. Each session will highlight a different aspect of city government, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how local decisions are made and services are delivered.
Assistant City Manager Tayler Wash said during Tuesday’s KVOE Morning Show that the institute is designed to break down complex topics into something more accessible for residents. She added that organizers also aim to keep the sessions engaging and enjoyable for participants.
The Civic Leadership Institute is open to community members who want to become more informed and involved in local government. Wash added, you get to learn about it all.
Residents interested in applying can do so through the city’s application link below. For more information, contact Tayler Wash at 620-343-4247 or by email at twash@emporiaks.gov.
