A special community engagement session is planned in downtown Emporia on Thursday.
Prairie Progress, a nonpartisan group highlighting issues affecting Kansas residents, has a Prairie Talk community conversation at the Emporia Arts Center Davis Theater. The event will feature a panel of community leaders, including:
*Dr Cate Crosby, director of Flint Hills Technical College’s Adult Education Center
*Amanda Cunningham, CEO of CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness
*Mark Detter, Emporia Deputy City Manager
*Casey Woods, director of Emporia Main Street
Members of Emporia’s federal delegation have been invited to take part.
Event organizer Jessica Cooney says the general topics include how federal decisions affect “community development, economic realities and our cost of living in the Flint Hills.”
Doors open at 5 pm. The event officially goes from 5:30-7 pm.
