SOS has been earmarked for funds to help victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and stalking.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says SOS is getting over $19,000 through the federal Services, Training, Officers and Prosecutors Violence Against Women Act grant program, which helps to prevent and handle violence against women through community-based measures. SOS is also getting almost $27,000 through another federal venture, the Sexual Assault Services Program. Funds from SASP help local organizations provide services so sexual assault survivors.
Funds are officially from the US Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women. Kansas is distributing more than $2.4 million to social service agencies across Kansas with this announcement.
