Flint Hills Technical College’s annual fundraising gala went back to its roots Friday night inside White Auditorium.
The theme for the evening, A Night of Inspiration, was a return to the event’s origins after a few years of various themes, including the Kentucky Derby last year. FHTC Vice-President of Advancement Mike Crouch says inspiration is the right feel for the evening, as that is at the core of what they do every day.
FHTC President Dr. Caron Daugherty says to her, inspiring students means demonstrating that anything is possible.
One previous student who was clearly inspired by their time at FHTC was this year’s distinguished alumnus and Modern Air Conditioning owner, Travis Sullivan. Sullivan attended FHTC from 1989 to 1990, where he studied industrial engineering.
Sullivan credited his time at FHTC for playing a part in getting him to where he is today, adding the college is an important fixture in the community that offers students who may be looking for an alternative to the traditional college experience a choice, and a quality one at that.
In addition to raising important dollars for student scholarships and the FHTC Wrangler Relief fund, it also showcased students from two of the college’s departments: culinary arts, which prepared the evening’s meal, multimedia design, network technology, welding, and engineering. Fundraising totals are currently pending and will be boosted by the second annual Wranglers on the Rocks spirits online auction, which took place earlier this year.
