Two people were hurt, one seriously, during a UTV crash in southeast Lyon County on Friday night.
Lyon County deputy Sarah Werle says the wreck was reported just after 9:45 pm near the junction of Roads 20 and X. Werle says the UTV was eastbound on Road 20 when a deer came out of the north ditch and hit the front of the UTV, causing the vehicle to overturn and roll “multiple” times.
The driver, 41-year-old Cale Gosney of Burlington, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Gosney was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center with suspected critical injuries.
The passenger, 32-year-old Mary Mader of Burlington, was taken to Newman Regional Health.
Besides deputies, Emporia Fire/EMS and Hartford-Neosho Rapids first responders were part of the emergency response.
